Matchy-matchy, revisited

This photo was taken some time ago, when it was still winter and cold enough for Tomokee to wear his McCloud jacket. I normally don't like to dress like the dog, but this was an exception.

Fur Ball 2008

We attended the Humane Society Silicon Valley Fur Ball 2008 this weekend. A good time was had by all, including Tomokee, shown here in his ever-so-sharp tux. The pocket on the side contains some business cards that we ordered for him. (yes, you heard right - business cards). We figured it might promote blog readership.

Here are some of the other canine guests. I love the hat on the great dane. I believe the dog in pearls is named Mona.

They created a nice little make-shift lawn area so that the dogs could visit mother nature:

The "king and queen" of the Fur Ball were Steve Wozniak and Kathy "D-List" Griffen. They are rumored to be engaged. I find that just very odd.

More photos of the event can be found here.

Field of doggy dreams

Today, we went to the doggy easter "egg" hunt sponsored by the local Five Paw Dog Bakery, with proceeds to benefit the Palo Alto Animal Services. We went last year, so Tomokee is a pro at this. He started snuffling the ground almost immediately looking for the egg-shaped dog biscuits. Here he is standing by one of the boundary markers.

This is the scene looking back towards the entrance.

Here are some of the other participants.

And finally, here's a view from the top of the hill at the Westwind barn location.

Every guy needs a tux

We decided to attend the Fur Ball this year, and Tomokee is allowed to come along. Of course, my first thought is, "he doesn't have a thing to wear!". I decided I wanted to sew something, but B.E. said ix-nay on lame, velvet, sequins, or anything else that would make him look like Liberace. I thought about it, and decided that since he's a black dog, all he needs is a shirt, tie, and cummerbund, and he would look like he's wearing a tux. I think he looks pretty sharp, even if he looks like a bad ventriloquist who's not wearing any pants.

Matchy-matchy

This photo is from our recent trip to the Sierras. While shopping in Truckee, we visited the Scraps Dog Bakery. The woman working in the store had these boots that just said "photo-op". While there, we bought some cow tail treats for Tomokee, which for some reason unknown to me, are called "Texas toothpicks".

Snow dog

We took Tomokee with us on a snowshoeing trip to the Sierras last weekend, and he really enjoyed himself. At first, he was a little dubious, like, "what is all this white cold stuff?", but it didn't take long for him to like bounding up and down the snowshoe trails. Here he is enjoying some snow. Note that he is wearing his very stylish camo neoprene jacket. It was quite cold on this particular day in Donner Memorial State Park.
He made some dog friends, including Ziggy here. This was a day earlier in the North Tahoe Regional Park.
And here, he's doing some exploring with a dog named Cody in that same park.
And finally, he's sitting respectfully in front of the E Clampus Vitis plaque in Truckee. Notice that he's wearing his ever-so-sharp apre-ski fleece jacket -- very appropriate for a town like Truckee.

He's blessing you with his ass

So, Tomokee has this odd behaviour where, instead of sticking his face in yours when you're around his height, he backs his hind end up to you and shoves. He did this a couple of times to Betty who looked up at me imploring and asked, "What is he doing?" Only one answer seemed to fit the activity, so I told Betty Tomokee was blessing her with his ass.

Just for the record, it's not just a "touching you with his rear end..." it a full on back up and shove, as though he were trying to "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" with just his butt.
